Do you love a team challenge? Can your team reach the summit?  Join the charity Emmaus Suffolk for “The Big Climb” challenge.   This indoor rock climbing day is all about well being and team spirit, mental agility and problem solving (no prior climbing experience or special kit required, safety guidance induction will be given and the “mountains” are all indoors!).

The Big Climb consists of 6 activities (3 bouldering* activities and 3 team building). Each one lasts 20 mins, so in one hour a team will have 1 x bouldering activity, 1 x team building activity, 1 x rest period.
* Bouldering is the term used for indoor climbing

Each team member is asked to fundraise a minimum of £100 for Emmaus Suffolk (we will be sending you plenty of helpful tips don't worry!)

Closing date for teams to register is Friday 20th Sept 2019.

Avid will require all participants to have completed a waiver prior to climbing which will be sent out via email after the closing date of 20th September 2019. All participants will need to climb within our terms and conditions covered in the waiver including no rings including wedding rings, jewellery, earrings and suitable clothing.  Avid will provide suitable footwear for climbing but ask that you turn up in trainers.

Entry to the event is dependent upon all participants arriving in time for the safety briefing and induction to climbing.   This will include free registration at Avid so that after this event you can return (we think you’ll grow to love this activity as much as we do!).

Climbing is great for both your physical and mental well being, working both your body and mind to their limits.

About Emmaus Suffolk

The charity provides education, training (including employment training) and work opportunities, and brings about the relief of poverty and resulting distress by helping people develop their skills in order to gain future employment, and maintain their sense of self-worth and dignity. Since opening its first retail outlet at the Dales in Feb 16, the charity has opened a further retail outlet at Sailmakers in Ipswich town centre and this has recently been joined by a third outlet in Felixstowe. The Dales site is the charity hub offering a small café, community garden both open to the public plus upcycling workshop as well as laundry facilities and a shower room for volunteers. We have helped and worked with 244 people since opening, 31 volunteers have moved on into employment. We offer support and advice on employment, mental health, training and lifeskills to name a few things. 60% of our charitable costs are covered by our own trading income and we have no statutory funding.
